2018 Gender Development Research Conference!

The Eighth Gender Development Research Conference will be held Thursday, October 18 and Friday, October 19, 2018 in San Francisco. 

Registration is now open for the conference! The conference is limited to faculty, professional researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students who are conducting research related to the developmental psychology of gender. Researchers may also be in allied disciplines such as biology, medicine, social and cognitive psychology, gender studies, sociology, and anthropology.  

October is a very popular month in San Francisco, and we encourage you to find hotel accommodations as soon as possible! See "Hotel Information" link above for more information. 

The conference schedule will be posted in September. In the meantime, we are happy to announce that our keynote speakers are: 

  • Dorothy Espelage, Understanding and prevention of sexual harassment and gender based bulling among adolescents
  • L. Monique Ward, Our scripted sexuality: How media exposure contributes to the gender beliefs, sexual experiences, and sexualization of American youth

Each of the keynote speakers will provide an overview and synthesis of their distinguished research programs. A few of the other sessions include: Linking science and practice on gender developmentHow sexually dimorphic is the human brain?, Toxic masculinity and boys' academic achievementAre gender stereotypes accurate?, The state of the developmental psychology of sexualization, and more!
